Aronno: Where Art, Heritage, and Purpose Converge

In the midst of a global pandemic that kept us confined within walls, I found myself yearning for the lush landscapes of Bangladesh—the tropical paradise where I grew up surrounded by nature's abundance. This longing gave birth to Aronno, a name that translates to "vast forest" in Bengali, initially conceived as a plant business to help others find the same solace in greenery that had always centered me.

Life, however, has its own way of guiding us toward our true calling. As my husband and I navigated our first years of marriage as two neurodivergent partners, while I simultaneously managed the unpredictable ebbs and flows of fibromyalgia, we realized that the plant business wasn't sustainable for us long-term. Yet, within this challenge lay the seed of something more aligned with my deepest passions.

A Return to Cultural Roots

Long before Aronno existed, I expressed my creativity as a henna artist, drawing intricate patterns that connected me to centuries of South Asian artistic tradition. Though my condition eventually made extended appointments impossible, my love for these cultural art forms never diminished. Instead, it evolved. I began exploring digital art and other mediums, allowing me to continue creating without the physical demands of henna application.

This exploration revealed what now seems obvious—my heart has always belonged to the artistic heritage of South Asia. The geometric precision of alpona floor art, the storytelling stitches of nakshi kantha embroidery, the fluid curves of henna designs—these traditional forms speak to me in a language more intimate than words.

With support from my husband who helps manage daily operations and my brother who assists behind the scenes, Aronno transformed from a plant business into a creative platform celebrating South Asian art and craftsmanship through apparel and accessories, with plans to expand into home goods.

Values Woven Into Every Thread

At the heart of Aronno lies a commitment to meaningful change through artistic expression. We believe in:

Cultural Celebration & Preservation - Honoring South Asian artistic traditions while bringing them into contemporary contexts, ensuring these rich cultural practices continue to thrive and evolve.

Social Justice Through Art - Using our creative voice to advocate for liberation from colonial systems, economic equality, and environmental sustainability. We see our work as part of a larger movement toward collective healing and justice.

Inclusive Community - Creating space where disabled and neurodivergent experiences are valued and centered, challenging conventional expectations and celebrating diverse ways of being in the world.

Ethical Growth - As we expand, we commit to learning and implementing more sustainable practices in our production processes. We're dedicated to making responsible choices that align with our values, even as a growing small business.

Collaborative Spirit - Building meaningful partnerships with South Asian artisans and independent creators who share our vision, amplifying voices that have been historically marginalized in the arts and fashion industries.

Every piece we create embodies these principles—a tangible reminder that beautiful things can be made with intention, compassion, and purpose.

More Than Just a Purchase

When you choose Aronno, you're not simply buying a product—you're participating in a vision for a more equitable world. Your support directly contributes to the independence of a disabled, neurodivergent South Asian woman working outside the confines of traditional employment systems that often fail to accommodate different ways of being and creating.

As we grow, we dream of collaborating with artisans throughout South Asia, creating economic opportunities while preserving traditional crafts. We envision our platform expanding to highlight other independent artists whose work aligns with our vision for a more just, beautiful world.

The name Aronno has come to represent not just the vastness of a forest, but the immense diversity and richness of South Asian cultural heritage—a boundless source of inspiration that continues to guide our journey. We invite you to walk this path with us, exploring the beautiful intersections of art, culture, and purpose.

Welcome to the Aronno family.
With Love,
Ahmed and Priyata
